Bemelberg-Boineburg

In 1571, the Roman Emperor granted Konrad X (+1591), a representative of the ancient noble family of Boineburg / Boyneburg, the title of Imperial Baron of Bemelberg / Bömmelberg and Honenburg [8: Band 1; p.69] [10: Neue Folge; Band XVI (1995); t.13].

In 1594, Baron Konrad XI of Bemelberg (+1618) acquired the Imperial immediate territory of Erolzheim that belonged to the Knightly Circle of Swabia [7: p.58] [21: p.118] [10: Neue Folge; Band XVI (1995); t.13].

In 1713, Baron Ignaz of Bemelberg (+1726), from the Bemelberg-Erolzheim branch, married Isabella-Charlotte (+1773), daughter of Count Maximilian-Wilhelm of Limburg-Styrum [10: Neue Folge; Band XVI (1995); t.13].

In 1800, Baron Aloys-Sebastian of Bemelberg (+1826), grandson of Ignaz (+1726) and Isabella-Charlotte (+1773), inherited the Imperial immediate Lordship of Gemen [10: Neue Folge; Band XVI (1995); t.14] after the Gemen branch of the House of Limburg-Styrum became extinct in the male line. The Counts of Limburg-Styrum as owners of the Lordship of Gemen / Gehmen had a voice in the Assembly of the Imperial Circle of the Lower Rhine-Westphalia [3: Abtheilung I; Band I; p.359] and a representation in the Imperial Assembly as members of the College of Counts of Westphalia [3: Abtheilung I; Band I; p.38] [2: p.9]. There was no application for the membership in the College of Counts of Westphalia from the Baron of Bemelberg (Note 1).

In July 1806, the Baron Aloys-Sebastian of Bemelberg / Bömmelberg lost his status of Imperial immediate ruler when the Prince of Salm-Kyrburg mediatized Gemen [4: tome III; p.95] [Abtheilung II; Band II; p.197] [2: p.151], and the King of Bavaria mediatized Erolzheim [21: p.118] by the Confederation of the Rhine Act.

In 1826, with the death of Aloys-Sebastian, the Bemelberg-Erolzheim branch of the Boineburg family became extinct in the male line. Aloys-Sebastian's daughter, Josepha, died in 1831 [10: Neue Folge; Band XVI (1995); t.14] [21: p.118].
